Who we are

ENC Vision 4 of 12

Every Nation Christchurch has been  Honouring God, Loving People and Serving Nations in our beautiful city since 2000.

In response to a vision of the fire of God breaking out in Cape Town and spreading to the nations Pst Bernhard and Colleen and their family were sent out from the Every Nation church in Cape Town South Africa (called His People) and came to Christchurch New Zealand full of faith and certainty that God had called them to establish a church that would reach the city and the nations of the world.

The commission from Matthew 28:18,19 was to ‘go and make disciples of all the nations’   “Nâ reira haere, meinga hei âkonga o ngâ iwi katoa...

Below are extracts from the prophetic word received at the commissioning service

I hear the sound of worship and shouts and cries of thanksgiving

I see Sons and daughters going to the nations as arrows of deliverance, to smite the works of darkness

God says, "this will be a mature, good work, a mature good work!"

There will be a shout that will be the voice of Jesus to the nations

In this house people will know that God reigns- people will live and have life!

This church will be birthed in relationships, fellowship.

This will be a place where people will find shelter and rest and more importantly they'll find the equipping of God

This will be a place to find the enablement and empowerment of God and people will go forth and do!

People will be strengthened and this house will be known for it's spirit of discipleship...where - Out of the strengthening the

LORD will bring forth a spirit of a warrior - a spirit of warfare will arise

and there will be - A spirit of pioneering, that God will fulfil what this city has been called to do.

God Bless Christchurch! God Bless Christchurch!

The Wewege family arrived in Christchurch in January 2000 and soon started a small gathering in their home. They also started connecting with students at the University of Canterbury.

In May 2000 a group of thirty moved to a lecture theatre at the College of Education and officially started the church. In February 2001, the growing church, moved into the auditorium at Girls High auditorium and continued to grow.

In 2003, the His People movement of churches officially became a member of the Every Nation Family of churches and ministries after relating to each other for four years. It was decided that we should change our church name to Every Nation Christchurch. Since its inception, Every Nation has been making disciples, planting churches and training leaders. The three primary emphases in Every Nation are Church Planting, Campus Ministry and World Missions.

In January 2007, after some faith stretching years, we moved to our permanent premises in Riccarton, near the University of Canterbury. We are so grateful to our strong local leadership team, the assistance of the Every Nation Apostolic covering, and the faithfulness and commitment of members.  We were able to acquire and move into our own multi-purpose building which we believe is strategically positioned and gives us the opportunity to expand and enlarge our capacity to reach the lost, make disciples, see lives transformed, equipped and sent! In 2008 and 2009 we renovated our premises. We will never forget the way church family came together to paint, clean, cook, etc.

The prophetic words we received for this building were - epi-centre and airport! We know it's not about the building. It's about lives changed. Many people, young and old have been transformed, broken lives have been restored, families and marriages reconciled and reunited and leaders equipped to impact society. We are blessed to have many students (international and local) base themselves in Christchurch for a season, before we send them back to their home lands.

The Great Commission mandate of 'making disciples of all nations' has priorities to Love God and love your neighbour (Mark 22:37-39). Thirteen years later, after a journey that has been full of its own significance, challenges, tears and sweat, victories and defining moments, we are amazed at what God has established.

God’s favour has enabled us to establish a multi-generational and multi-cultural church. Someone once said ’the end goal of missions is worship’!  ‘…every tribe, every tongue, every nation will worship before the throne’ ‘ Nô ngâ iwi katoa,nô ngâ hapû,nô ngâ huihuinga tângata,nô ngâ reo’ Revelation 7:9
